This column is not totell you that we are going to deprive you of your happiness, but to show youthat nothing should be taken granted, what we have done over the years and weare working to give you more.
The History of Uniform
In the first article of this column, I amgoing to tell the story about our uniform.
(1)Someone may wonder why JUSTECH keeps changing itsuniform. Is an unchanged uniform more symbolic? Is it because JUSTECH is a fashionistaor its executives like to make changes?
It is because we are different. Therequirement of our Chairman for the uniform is that the uniform must be so goodthat he wants to wear. Therefore, uniform is not only a part of benefits tostaff, but what we should do for our staff. At JUSTECH, the uniform is ourrecognition to our staff and their symbol. Our employees are not required towear uniform when in work, but we do hope that they like their uniform and wearit as a symbol we create for them. A photo taken in 2014 reminded me that whatour staff wore in that year were the third generation of our summer and winteruniform.
In 2014, our summer uniform, with collar ingrey and other parts in pink, was made from siro spinning fabric that featuredwear resistance but poor breathability and a low level of comfort. In 2015,based on the lesson we learned from the previous generation of uniform, weimprove the uniform by replacing siro spinning fabric with breathable andconformable pure cotton fabric. However, we found that the cotton uniform wasnot popular among employees and worn by fewer and fewer employees. Then wetried to identify the reasons by doing lots of surveys. We found that thebiggest problem lay on the pure cotton fabric. Pure cotton fabric is comfortable, but for employees engaged in physicalactivities, the level of comfort was greatly reduced as the uniform was easilyattached to their skin when they sweated a lot. So, we began another round ofuniform improvement. With a focus on breathability and perspiration absorption,we thought fabric of sportswear might solve our problems. So we soughtsuppliers of functional fabrics widely used in sportswear. However, when thesupplier sent us samples, we found that functional fabric that could meet ourneeds was elastic, which meant that such fabric could be only used to make slimfit shirts that would be unsuitable for some employees. Additionally, suchfabric was too soft and light, and easily worn out.
We had to re-start from scratch.
When we were at our wits end, fabric ofmilitary uniform wore by soldier who had to train everyday occurred to us. Sowe borrow military T-shirts from employees that used to serve the army forreference, and learned about uniform wore by Special Operations Force andsoldiers at home and abroad, finally, a uniform specifically designed forGerman army gave us inspiration. The fabric of this uniform is breathable,absorbent and wear resistant. However, when we asked suppliers for such fabric,no one could offer us such fabric and they told us that its weaving and dyeingtechniques were exclusive to some German manufacturer, and unavailable inChina. But we believed that nothing wasimpossible. Then in the following half a month, we searched for suppliers onyellow pages of all portal websites, and finally identified over 100manufacturers that could offer fabric almost up to our standards. Approx. 80manufacturers were eliminated through inquiry over phone, then over 20manufacturers were shortlisted after face-to-face communication and finally twomanufacturers agreed to re-set their knitting machine to make a sample for us. At last, one of them was selected aftercomparison of their samples in terms of weight, quality, process andservice.
Choosing the manufacturer was just thefirst step. After knowing that our employees also cared about style of theiruniform, we took some time to select the color of our uniform. After referringto lots of fashion magazines and news, and asking for opinions from 10 fashionistasat JUSTECH, we selected the earth tone. Famous artist Nicholas Tse wore aT-shirt in earth tone in a television program and international brand H&Mlaunched similar shirts, which was evidence of our sense of fashion.
After a sample of the uniform is produced,we sought for better details. To verify if the uniform was comfortable, 20employees were invited to be fitted for the uniform for a week. To make theuniform fit every employee, we repeatedly adjusted the pattern, made uniformsfor male and female employees respectively and adjust the measurement of size.To ensure overall quality of the uniform, we spent three times the amount ofmarket price on the logo embroidery that was required to be continuous withoutinterruption.
(2)JUSTECH also maintained a high standard for winteruniform. JUSTECH is the first to use wind jacket that made from specific fabric instead of general uniform fabric asuniform, and many nearby companies emulated us to provide their employees withwind jack uniform.
Wind jack uniform we offered in 2013 fortrail was made of heavy and coated wind-resistant fabric what was stuffy.
In the next year, we offered two-pieceuniform with the inner piece made of polar fleece and the external one made of polyesterpongee, which made the winter uniform more lightweight and comfortable. Theinner piece that could be worn over a shirt extended the season when employeescould wear the uniform.
In 2017, when orange became a trend, wesought to make another breakthrough. To make our winter uniform morefashionable, we learned from patterns of Givenchy, to make our uniform morelightweight, we selected the warm yet lightweight fabric used by ARCTERYX…
(3) During the process of uniform production,we were told by many suppliers that such techniques were unavailable in China,and no one could meet our standards, and we were persuaded to give up, replacewith similar fabric or lower our standards. But we maintain our high-standardsand stay true to our objectives and missions.
In 2018, we continue listening to the voiceof employees and making improvement. We produce every piece of uniform withcommitment to excellence, and try to improve every detail, and to meet our highstandards to ensure your satisfaction.
I think this is a little-known side of JUSTECH.
